Echo Spirits
Package Design

Label design, custom type and illustration for Elusive, Echo's first liqueur created by hand by Derek Reno. Positioned to fill the void left by the shortage of a certain green elixir made by carthusian monks, it was a labor of love for all involved, and dedicated to the love of the craft (and we all really just wanted a Last Word.) The design features illustrations of each of the product's dozens of ingredients and mirrors the complexity of the spirit inside.

This print, and it's namesake bier, Alfheim, celebrates Freyr, the norse god representing kingship, fertility, peace, prosperity, fair weather, and good harvest. He's shown atop his golden boar, Gullinbursti, with several references to other symbols and myths from Alfheim, the realm of the light elves which he rules.

I approached the print in the style of the incredible stained glass panels that adorn the brewery, to tell a different story of Alfheim.

To support and promote our senior thesis exhibition at CCAD (Chroma), we created an art direction as an expression of the event branding and executed a photoshoot of over 200 of our peers.

To pull it off, we developed the technical approach through a few test shoots, experimenting with the best ways to achieve extreme color saturation in a very isolated, modular, and controllable way that we could change on the fly. By doing this, we could create retouching profiles in advance for each color channel we were using and tether the camera, essentially doing 90% of our retouching during the shoot itself.

It was a completely self-initiated project by us and the rest of the team of student organizers who were naming, branding, and programming the show together, and quickly grew to become a much larger moment and point of excitement for the entire class ahead of the show. I still love how much joy and personality shows up in the images.
